Proust, Marcel

(1871-1922), his main work “À la recherche du temps perdu” was published in Danish for the first time in 1932-38, of which the first volume of “Swann’s Way” has recently been published in a modern translation by Else Henneberg Pedersen. Proust received in 1919 the prestigious Goncourt award for the work. His unfinished work, “Jean Santeuil,” which is considered today to be a study for the main work, was published in Danish in 1953. Proust has also written a number of short stories and essays, some of which were published in Les Plaisirs et les jours, which was published in 2001 in a new Danish translation by Henning Goldbæk.
